Set sail for a cause with the Noosa Gaff Rig Regatta, an annual event hosted by the Noosa Yacht & Rowing Club to support NYRC Sailability. Sailors from across Eastern Australia converge for this fun-filled weekend to compete for the esteemed NYRC Gaff Rig Trophies, all while contributing to a program that opens up sailing to individuals with disabilities.
What is a Gaff Rig?
A gaff rig, famously used on King George V’s iconic yacht Britannia, features a four-cornered sail supported by a spar called a gaff. This rigging style combines elegance with competitive spirit, and participants can sail boats constructed from both traditional and modern materials.
Regatta Highlights:
- When: June 6th & 7th, 2026
- Where: Noosa Yacht & Rowing Club
- Registration: $60 (includes briefing and instructions for all participants)
No prior regatta experience is needed! The NYRC team will provide a comprehensive briefing, so both seasoned sailors and first-time competitors can enjoy the thrill of the race.

Notice of Race for the 7th Noosa Gaff Rig Regatta
- Saturday 6th of June 2026
- Sunday 7th of June 2026
The regatta format is 1, 2 or 3 short races per day, results will be based on performance handicap on the day and previous results calculated by the club handicapper, the club SailSys program and recalculated after each race.
